New York Times Caught in Lie about Scott Walker

Original post made by News Hound, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Feb 16, 2015

On Friday February 13 The New York Times published a Column by Gail Collins in which she blames Scott Walker for Wisconsin Teacher Layoffs in 2010. But there is only one problem: Scott Walker did not take office until 2011. Democrat Jim Doyle was the Governor of Wisconsin at the time the teacher layoffs took place.

After the New York Times was called out on its lie it corrected the 'misinformation'. For those who wish to view the archive of the original Gail Collins article please click here:

The bold mendacity of the New York Times never ceases to amaze me.

News Hound may want to be more of a Dictionary Hound and inform him/herself that a lie involves intent to deceive or spread a falsehood -- usually if not always, depending on your dictionary. An error is not a "lie."

Of course, if you're of the political persuasion that the NY Times is hellbent on lies and deceit, I guess you're going to come to News Hound's conclusion even if you understand the meaning of "lie". Sad to live in such a blinkered world.

Do we need this sort of right-wing propaganda here on the Almanac web site? What is the point of all of this?

And does the poster who chooses to identify itself as "News Hound" need an intervention of some sort?

yo news hound, ya ol 4 legged friend! What up, dawg?

Lil' Scottie and his staff got in trouble and his staffers were indicted. Can you clear that up fo me?

So, besides Lil Scottie and Chrissy Chistie, what other GOP pretzeldenshul candidates have been in trouble with the law? Sarah, of course, but others?

lil scottie:

"When a Wisconsin court released 27,000 pages of emails from a former aide to Gov. Scott Walker, it shone an embarrassing light on the 2016 hopeful.

The investigation – resulting in six convictions – involved embezzlement, money laundering and staffers mixing state business with a campaign effort to get Walker, then a Milwaukee county executive, to the governor’s mansion.

But getting the most attention from this document dump? The derogatory and inappropriate language used in some of the unsealed notes."

Oh, I forgot - Ricky Perry will be convicted in his investigations by 2016, too!

This could be a record crop of GOP crooks, and guys who hire crooks for their staffs.

Such judgement!

"Texas Gov. Rick Perry could be facing 109 years in prison after being indicted by a grand jury for abuse of power.

Notice that none of the criticisms mentions the New York Times admission of a false statement. It's either all about Rick Perry or Chris Christie or "it depends on the definition of 'is' is." The only thing missing is that it's Bush's fault (that'll come soon enough).

The New York Times is our real 50 shades of grey. Our once vaunted news media is a mere shadow of its former self.

Sad.

And the Old Grey Lady never corrected their Page 1 misinformation about Chris Christie's culpability in "Bridge-Gate" (hint: he had none). And this weeks beheadings of 21 Christians by ISIS ... that was worthy of today's Page 6.

Nice job, NYT. And you wonder why your business model is failing?

I feel as if all of the comments are 're-Hearst'. It all sounds like the new gutter politics to me and better to move on (dot com.).

Okay.
