This is a superb and bold decision by the Fire Board.

Innovation in public agencies is sadly a rare event and a culture of innovation in such agencies is hard to create and even harder to maintain.

When the Fire Board turned its back on innovation in 2020 by rejecting the opportunity to acquire an electric fire engine (one which the Fire District actually helped to develop!) I worried that the District's hard won culture of innovation was being abandoned.

This decision shows that our Fire District remains the most innovative in the Nation.

Thank you Menlo Park Fire for pioneering this. Hope the tech proves to be robust and reliable in the field, and that other Fire Districts (including my own in Woodside) check it out.
