New Menlo Park fire station to break ground this month

Menlo Park Fire Protection District plans to demolish its 72-year-old fire station on Alameda de las Pulgas starting Jan. 21, making way for a new structure the district says will offer improved services.

I drove by the other day, as I have for decades, and saw that preparations were underway for the demo. While I appreciate the list of improvements the new building will bring, I’ll miss this modest yet efficient looking structure that blended well into the surroundings. Sign of an old timer :)

Jon - I think you will find the new Station 6 to be the best looking new non-residential building built in Menlo Park in the least ten years. I predict that the new Station 4 will be equally attractive.

It will be interesting to see how long the County approval process takes for Station 4 compared to the ten years that it took to get Menlo Park approval for the new Station 6.
