Law enforcement officials donate to fire board incumbents

Original post made on Oct 30, 2020

Two incumbents running for reelection to the Menlo Park Fire Protection District board have received donations in recent weeks from a number of familiar figures in the area, including a mix of current and retired San Mateo County Sheriff's Office employees.

We still do not know what Kiraly and Silano promised the union in order to get the union's endorsement.

The fact that Kiraly and Silano refuse to post their answers to the union's questionnaire certainly suggests that they have something to hide.

That's great. Kirally and Silano both got money from the campaign to reelect a guy that was caught in a Las Vegas whore house featuring underage women. One would think they would return that money or refuse the contribution given its tainted origins.

Mr Carpenter-

You continue your desperate attempt to suggest a nefarious collusion on the part of the fire board incumbents for the union's endorsement, while you heavily bankroll the campaign of Sean Ballard whose past actions clearly reflect character flaws not worthy of holding public office. It appears you and Mr. Ballard share similar traits.

And what is your opinion on the donations; i.e., endorsements, received by the incumbents from a number of area law enforcement officials? Or do you question-without any basis whatsoever- their integrity as well?

My vote goes with our first responders- the firefighters and law enforcement officials who support the incumbents. The fact that they back Ms. Kiraly and Mr. Silano should weigh heavily on casting a vote for their re-election.

What an honor to have the endorsements of our firefighters, law enforcement and the unions that support them. For Carpenter to suggest collusion is a sad, desperate attempt to smear the other candidates. The Almanac and Post have the answers to their questions, perhaps harass them to post online and stop badgering the candidates.

Those answers are buried in mountains of emails.

Kiraly and Silano should just post their answers if they have nothing to hide.

Elected officials do not work for the unions and should not be obligated to the unions.

Elected officials work for ALL of the citizens.

The fact is that all four candidates responded to the union's questionnaire.

The fact is that only Ballard and Carpenter posted their answers for the public to see. Kiraly and Silano refused to do so.

Ballard and Carpenter both stated that they would NOT support binding arbitration. What did Kiraly and Silano say?

Why did the union then support Kiraly and Silano?

Stop trying to control other candidates! Is this how you intend to run the board, with badgering and harassment? The Almanac is your campaign platform of choice, not theirs.
