This is pure election pandering by Wiest.

I challenge Wiest to post on this Forum a promise to not pursue either detachment from the Fire District or property tax reparations from the Fire District (which would require taking fire services away from East Palo Alto and Menlo Park).

The only way to put this messy issue behind us is to vote Wiest out of office and fortunately we have two much better candidates in David and Hawkins-Manuelian.

I am in full support of Dr. Diana Hawkins-Manuelian because of her strong push towards environmental policies and concerns. She is smart. She is collaborative. She is an avid researcher and listener.

The top issue that the Almanac editorial board discusses here is the fire district - and yet the ultimate recommendation is to vote for the one person running in this election who has shown any potential support in the past of Atherton leaving the fire district.

Here's the thing: If all four people running for election are in favor of Atherton remaining in the fire district, this shouldn't be our top issue for selecting who we vote for.

I am 26 years old and every vote I make is for my future and for the future of those older and younger than myself. I want to stress here - I have more years to go (hopefully) than any of the candidates. I would like to see council members who are looking at the long term. 

In the national election, state election, and local election - who's future are you voting for?
