Layoffs, furloughs and service reductions: County courts announce cuts due to pandemic's effect on budget

San Mateo County Superior Court on Wednesday announced furloughs, layoffs and a slew of service reductions due to an estimated $4.5 million budget reduction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The state has made brutal cuts in the budget for the Judicial Branch after failing for several years to restore cuts previously made. And no protests, either from the Legislature to the Governor or from the citizenry to the Legislature. I have to guess there's no great concern that justice delayed is justice denied.
