Cutting parking enforcement the city will become a pile of car on top of each other. The city will become a little east San Jose where people can even park their cars in front people's drive way and their is law do to no parking enforcement officers.

Actually parking enforcement would still be conducted but one would have to call it in instead of an officer monitoring it proactively. Let me put it this way: is proactive parking enforcement more important than a community center? Or Say, community events Or renovating playgrounds? Council thinks so...

The Council needs to make structural adjustments to the entire city government - not quarter by quarter stripping away of social services. And they should start by giving the outsourcing of the police department to the Sheriff - which will save millions EVERY year and will IMPROVE the level of police services - serious consideration with lots of public input.

I for one will never vote for or support any current council member who does not demand a serious discussion on police outsourcing.

I'm with you. the overhead cost of operating a Police Department is crazy. San Carlos did exactly what you describe and has better coverage without requiring mutual aid if they fall short. it about time our politicians look at the ENTIRE budget and become fiscally responsible rather than politically correct.

The continued operation of a daycare center costing the city hundreds of thousands of dollars for the benefit of 62 families is simply irresponsible. in this environment every decision must be weighed as to how will the $1 benefit the residents of Menlo Park the MOST.
