Pandemic strains already struggling early learning programs

San Mateo County early childhood learning programs are struggling to stay afloat with the shelter-in-place order keeping many closed.

Childcare facilities should be publicly funded or at least subsidized. Private childcare is extremely expensive, and we know that by helping with childcare more women will enter the workforce (those who want to, of course) and make our economy stronger. This situation is exposing another obvious shortcoming in our current way of doing things.
