BAY CITY NEWS SERVICE:

You report, "The suspect allegedly punched a woman out for a walk in the back."

Was the woman "...out for a walk in the back"?

Or, "...out for a walk, in the back"?

A correction has thankfully been made to this article. After I first read it I wondered if the victim was on a walk out in the back, as in her back yard or was she punched in the back after her walk. The commas did confuse the story but the rewrite gave the reporting new life.

Who or what is Bay City News?

By the way, I am distressed to hear that at 8:20PM on Arlington, one cannot take a walk without an incident that must have been terrifying. We are in store for some worrisome times ahead. The unemployment numbers means more crime. Brace yourself.

I just looked at the article (above) again; the Almanac is still using the original Bay City version, although I called the item to the attention of The Almanac editor a couple hours ago.

Disappointing that grammar seems to be the main concern in the comments. Thank you to "sentence structure" for addressing the more important issue.

Well, that's close to home as often walk from my home around the Menlo Oaks area to the Menlo Atherton track.
Sometimes I'm accompanied with my niece and I have to tell her, "the difference with men and women is their knack for spatial awareness" - she usually has her head in her phone and rarely sees the folks who walk by us - just to say hi, be neighborly.
I hope this lady recovers, and they get this fella for what he's done.
I dont blame unemployment on a phone theft and assault, it's a rotten kid who needs a good lesson on respect

To: More important point?

"Disappointing that grammar seems to be the main concern in the comments."

No, I felt the sentence, as constructed, did not reflect the gravity of the crime, based on my experience working in law enforcement for many years.
