Atherton police host ‘Shop With a Cop’ event for kids in need

Nine local students spent the morning of Dec. 11 on a holiday shopping spree at Target in Redwood City to pick out gifts for a family member or a friend, a toy for themselves, and a necessity like a scarf or socks.

This is a nice program but I am surprised that it is so small, only 9 kids got to participate. A resident of the Willows organized a toy drive that brought in close to 1000 toys, I would think Atherton could come up with support to allow at least 100 kids to participate. Not trying to put the program down, just surprised...
