San Mateo County largely spared in latest PG&E power shutoff projections

PG&E has added portions of two more Bay Area counties to the six where residents may be without power in a shutoff that may start Wednesday morning. The shutoff is not currently expected to impact The Almanac's coverage area.

We need to protest against this insanity by PG&E. It's already been proven that turning off the power even for millions of users does not prevent fires. And PG&E downed power lines are certainly not the only way wildfires get started.

There should be no more outages for paying customers--particularly when those customers do not live in the wine country where the wildfires have occurred.

We need to find real remedies without wreaking havoc with our lives, collectively costing us millions of dollars, and harming our already weakened retail enough to put many stores and restaurants out of business.

This is America. This is Silicon Valley. This is not Venezuela. At least not yet.
