Just like special insurance for flood zones there should be special insurance for fire zones.
Amy construction in wild fire zones should be required to have nonflamanle or fire resistant roofing, siding and windows.

They already are and have been for quite awhile. The problem is that there is no requirement for the retrofitting of homes that were built prior to Wildland Urban Interface regulations went into effect. Those homes far outnumber homes constructed to current codes.

As to special insurance like flood insurance, I don't think that is very far away. There are many insurance companies that won't write policies for homes anywhere near a WUI. If that keeps up and grows, just like federal flood insurance became necessary because insurers wouldn't write policies in flood zones, it will become necessary to have federal WUI fire insurance.
