This is a really bad idea. The article says there are many homeless students or students who have unstable homes. Sorry, but that is not a statistic. This is total BS. Who is going to pay for this? More tax's? If these ignorant politicians want to create a homeless encampment, fine. Raise the money in a non profit, lease the land and run it. With all the wealthy people in this area I'm sure there is more than enough private money to make it happen.

Yet another well meaning, but ill conceived proposal by a politician. The extra costs of security, lighting, toilets/showers, etc, would be a real burden & detract from the charter of Community Colleges - Education!
If the goal is to use Gov't owned parking facilities to provide "safe overnight housing", it would be better to utilize:
1) BART & other transit parking lots
2) Stadiums (Levi, Stanford, etc)
3) Gov't office parking
The real issue is to solve the "Root Cause" & reduce the cost of living on the peninsula! Let's reduce taxes, PD&E rates. etc. so that current residents can live here!
