Menlo Park: Officials 'cautiously optimistic' about girl who nearly drowned in Burgess Pool

A 13-year-old girl who was rushed to the hospital after collapsing in Menlo Park's Burgess Pool following a swimming meet on June 28 appears to be slowly improving Wednesday morning (July 3), according to the local fire chief.

The person involved suffered a heart attack after finishing her race. Not common for athletes that age but not unheard of either. She was pulled out of the water within seconds of going under water.
