Surveys are nice - especially as a way to prepare the masses for higer taxes (see question #10). But the big ticket for this little school district is FACEBOOK which is proposing expanded office space for 35,000 more employees on the east side.with next to NO HOUSING for the newcomers, HOW WILL NO NEW HOUSING AFFECT MENLO PARK? Well, my friends, state politicians working for Facebook and other big corporations are still sdvancing bills to force cities such as Menlo Park to allow developers to build midrise condos or apartments most anywhere they like (and with little or no onsite parking). Condos OR apartments - THEIR CHOICE. While property will need to be assembled for construction sites, State Senator Scott Wiener's SB 50 (and similar bills) would allow developers to convert single-family housing into multi-family housing as fast as existing owners get out of the way. Indeed, Wiener in a talk Friday night in Palo Alto criticized Proposition 13 which can impede "progress" in replacing old residents with new ones. It all reminds me of a horror flick from before Wiener was born. The old people were made a report to special facilities where they wete ground up asd distributed as FOOD for the younger workers.
