I strongly believe that Town owned land should NOT be contributed to developers. And that adding additional housing density is out of character and inconsistent with the expectations and historic character of our community. Totally inappropriate to introduce higher density housing that creates more traffic and pressure on schools and other services. Our schools are already under financial pressure. I would wager that adding population density inconsistent with zoning is not consistent with the wishes of our fellow residents.

Why can’t the Town follow the simple steps of first establishing HOW they would allocate this type of housing, WHO would manage it and be responsible for its upkeep, WHO would pay for it, and HOW the neighbors and the rest of the town might feel about it? Time and time again, the Town goes ahead and starts making plans, soliciting drawings, and discussing options of projects like this before the details are actually settled on how it will be used and operated. I get it—the Town sees a need for “affordable” housing because many who work in PV are unable to afford to live here. The problem is, there are many people in this situation, and that does not address the perceived need for people to be able to live here simply because they grew up here. I do agree with the idea that seniors might prefer to downsize and continues living here. I also see the need for our firefighters to be able to live here. However, what about everyone else, such as Town staff, teachers, employees of local businesses? There isn’t wnough room in PV to build affordable housing for everyone who works here, and it’s not fair to cherry pick who does. Please address and resolve these types of issues before having Carter draw up plans and start discussing how many apartments can be fitted into a rural spot across from a main trail system, and backing up to the middle school.
