Horse DNA-testing service sets up shop in Menlo Park

"The only thing better than science is science with horses," Christa Lafayette, CEO of Etalon Diagnostics, said with a smile on a recent Wednesday afternoon at her pop-up lab situated at the former site of Yogurt Stop along El Camino Real in Menlo Park.

That is an interesting definition of ‘gait’
Gaited horses are actually the opposite of that stated above. They are bred specifically for the quality of smooth movement.

Mutation on the DMRT3 gene (known as the ‘Gait keeper’ mutation has a predominant effect on gaiting ability in horses.

Our 5 gaited Icelandic has five smooth and fast gaits: walk, trot, tolt, gallop, pace (Tolt and pace are lateral gaits).
