Because I knew this election was particularly important, I paid closer attention to the Ravenswood School Board race ... people were upset with the current school board, but it seemed as if the main qualification of some challengers was being angry. I spent a few hours watching the videos and reading the statements of the candidates - it was a lot of work! - to make up my own mind. Fitch, Sobomehin - and, for that matter, Nunez - all were good challengers; Pulido was the one incumbent that left a very positive impression (Knight couldn't be bothered to give a statement, for all I know she's fine, but she shouldn't take the voters for granted). I knew what my opinion was at the end, but I wasn't sure how much other people did their homework. Alas, I think they were; it was not a dartboard election. It helps my faith in democracy.

I have questions about Pulido - mainly, why she gets re-elected. She comes across as smug, mean-spirited, arrogant and as a mendacious empire-builder.
