Sheriff's Office warns of scam involving SMC Alert system

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a scam involving text messages claiming to be associated with the county's SMC Alert emergency notification system.

Are these alerts also posted on the county website so we can verify if the text messages are authentic?
