I cannot believe anyone is opposed to this bicycle route. The streets are so much safer with the bike lanes. We would love to see more bicycle routes through town, preferably with wider bike lanes.

Very, pleased to see the bikes make permanent. I'm hoping this is will only lead to more and better bike corridors in the city.

I, too, support bike lanes and improved safety for cyclists and pedestrians of all ages in our community but I do have one question which doesn't appear to have been discussed much to this point: Isn't the main ingress/egress for the massive Greenheart office project going to be Derry Lane, which intersects Oak Grove very close to the railroad tracks? I think I remember reading that there would be no light at this intersection, as well, given the proximity to the tracks, so how safe will the area be in the morning, say, when many hundreds of harried car commuters are trying to turn off Oak Grove into the Greenheart property while simultaneously avoiding trains, other cars, pedestrians in the adjacent flasher-protected crossing and dozens or hundreds of cyclists? Presumably this issue has been raised and dismissed already (perhaps I'm wrong about the use of Derry Lane) but I'd like to know more if more information may be had.

Bike lanes are great but have you seen the horrible drivers there -- run red lights, text, etc. -- too bad the parents nor the council thought to maybe fix that problem.

Couple comments re University Ave.:

Speeding cars are the main danger on University now.
I routinely see speeds in excess of 35mph, as it's now a "straight shot" for a quarter mile.
Also makes it hard to make a safe left turn onto University from Live Oak, especially during peak hours.

Can there something be implemented to slow speeders down (Stop sign?).

Also, trash-cans "parked or strewn about" in the bike lanes on University create hazardous conditions often for several days (Mon-Wed), requiring to swerve into traffic to get around them.
I know that there is no easy fix as it requires collaboration from residents and RECOLOGY to keep the bins on the in general wide enough sidewalks. But one can hope....

In General though, I see more people cycling to, from and through downtown...improving safety (by numbers) and quality of life in our downtown.

But when riding, please follow the law, lead with good example by observing STOP signs and signaling your intentions. As sharing goes both ways!
