Letter: Betsy Nash for Menlo Park City Council

Original post made on Nov 5, 2018

As an Oak Knoll parent, I support Betsy Nash for Menlo Park City Council, District 4. I appreciate her progressive political values, integrity, and inclusivity within our community. Betsy uniquely secured endorsements from San Mateo County Democrats, Silicon Valley DemFems, and Sierra Club, among many others.

Betsy is a dream candidate. Follow the money. Her donations are from residents, not special interest groups. Menlo Park would be lucky to have her on Council. Thanks for running, Betsy!

As much as I like Betsy, Progressive issues like safe streets are well-covered by other candidates and council members.

It's counter-intuitive, but the city is organizationally drifting night now. I'm looking at all the needs and who can fill them, it's critical that Ron Shepard be elected as his experience on West Bay Sanitary - both in hiring managers and responding to accounting issues - is unique. We need at least 1 council member who can not fold to a city manager's hidden agendas. He uniquely fills that need.

Betsy has been a manager in biotech and knows how to balance budgets and make tough decisions. I have seen her use critical thinking skills to solve problems.

Above all, I have observed her integrity. Her grassroots campaign has received funds from individual people (with a $250 limit), not political parties or political action committees or development interests unlike her opponents.
Betsy would never utilize fake slate mailers to promote herself. She is the real deal and she is what our city needs right now - smart, tough, knowledgeable, and full of integrity and competence.
For information about reported campaign donations, see the campaign finance reports online at the city Web Link and ask the city clerk for any information about donations above $1,000.

We need a progressive shakeup for a drifting organization. Smart, tough, knowledgeable and full of integrity and competence is needed for a fresh approach to the current malaise. Betsy is best!

Regardless of political leaning a city needs someone who is thoughtful, listens to all points of views, methodically goes through available data, and comes to a decision on the basis of facts. I do not find experience in sanitary industry to really be a judge of that. I have come to know Betsy to be a candidate who takes making decisions and forming opinions seriously and does so with diligence and integrity and admirable open-mindedness. Thanks Betsy for running.
