Council OKs civic center design cuts, but hears donors may renege on pledges

Atherton's City Council approved at least $2.5 million in cost-saving design changes for a new administration and police building on Sept. 5, just before hearing that unhappy donors might withdraw $2 million in pledges they'd made to help pay for the civic center.

So the lady who raised 25% of what she signed up to raise (and many believe through fault of her own, by not approaching many of the tech wealth in Atherton, instead relying on her own circle of country club people) is still calling the shots and issuing threats. Wow. The Almanac didn't color this story with what the message is behind Fisher's threats, but it's alluded to in the other one from a few days ago: build the police building, and to hell with any other considerations.
