Report touts Bay Area as mega-powerful region facing challenges

Silicon Valley is an economic powerhouse, and some of the cogs that drive it are more functional than others, claims a new report recently released by the Bay Area Council Economic Institute.

If the Bay Area were a country, its economy would be the 19th largest in the world, with a gross domestic product of $748 billion.

Let's support it with infrastructure, transportation, education etc

San Jose is building more units for the homeless and low wage people than allowing permits for high paid workers. San Jose seems to think they can fix the homeless problem by giving them housing. From what Ive seen the homeless will destroy the apts and will be back on the street. They are on the street for the most part because they want to be. The landlords are being punished for the rise in prices. Now we have to pay for tenants lawyers in disputes. San Jose wants to know how much we charge for rent and only allows a 5% increase per year on units built before 1979. Why this cutoff I do not understand. We are the lowest priced of the landlords already. The newer places are the most expensive and yet they are not rent controlled. Why?
