What a horrible piecemeal process! The entire San Francisquito Creek drainage including Searsville should be studied, analyzed and engineered as a system. As it is, the illegal piecemeal process being used results in expensive sub-optimal solutions. Now the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is only studying a 3/4 mile segment - 1/16 of the creek's length!. Without considering the entire 12 mile drainage, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will come to the conclusion that in the 3/4 mile segment they will study, 3' to 9' flood walls are the cheapest alternative for 100-year flood protection. The public is clear: floodwalls are not an acceptable alternative. Backup and do this legally.

Searsville Dam has dammed San Francisquito Creek above 280 since it was built in 1892. The reservoir is 90% filled with sediment. At this rate, the reservoir will be completely filled in about 15-20 years, and then the sediment and water will flow over the dam and down the creek, potentially reducing the waterflow of the creek. The dam was built over 100 years ago. Are the pre-1892 flows before the dam included in the data for a 100-year flood? Will the study consider future sediment coming down the creek from the dam? If not, it appears that this study will be overtaken by events unless Searsville Dam is resolved.

You people kill me literally! Sitting high atop the struggling little East Palo Alto, Menlo Park talking about bad plans. What are you people doing? Nothing, sending all your horse manure and massive sediments downstream for us to spend our money on and fight your mess. Just like you to suggest the project has problems. What is your plan to address issues in Portola Valley coming down this way? Please let's see what you are proposing that is better?
