Bridge-toll hike poised to pass

Wednesday morning election results show Bay Area voters on the cusp of approving a regional measure that would raise tolls at seven state bridges by $3 to fund $4.5 billion in transportation improvements.

Crazy. Plus, this allows future toll increases to be decided at a whim, not by the voters. Don't be surprised to see $20 tolls by 2030.

Santa Clara county voted 61% in favor. Most of the people in that county don't use the bridges (237 works fine), so of course...make our East Bay commuters pay for the Bart extension to San Jose that they're not going to use. And a train line in Sonoma county.

This should have been financed in a more egalitarian way.

We need an employment tax like what Mountain View is going. Charge a certain amount per year per employee for companies with a large number of high-salary employees. Those companies can afford it and they are they are also the reason that working class people can't afford to live here anymore and are forced to drive long distances to get to their jobs.
