Peaceful Sidewalk Demonstrations every Friday, noon - 1 in Palo Alto

Original post made by Judy Adams, Menlo Park: Downtown, on May 30, 2018

I invite all community members and activists concerned about poverty, racism, militarism and ecological damage to our earth, to attend one of the small demonstrations for addressing those issues in our communities, to one (or all) of the remaining Friday demonstrations supporting the 2018 Poor People's Campaign, modeled on the 1968 campaign of MLK Jr.

The small demonstrations, which are scheduled through June 22 are informally sponsored by the local Palo Alto/Peninsula branch of the Women's Intl. League for Peace and Freedom and take place every Friday from noon to 1 at the corner of El Camino Real and Embarcadero (under the large "lantern" sign for Town & Country Village - just past its El Camino entrance). This location has been a traditional "free speech corner" for many decades, and we respect the T&C Village property, keep the sidewalks clear, and engage in peaceful demonstration of the goals of the Poor People's Campaign, mentioned above.

Our June 1 demonstration honors National Gun Violence Awareness Day (which is observed the next day, June 2nd) by standing in vigil to end gun violence, and also for equal voting rights, as we approach the June 5 elections. Our next peaceful demonstration is Fri. June 8, same time & place, on affordable healthcare and the health of our planet. Please join us!

Contact us at wilpf.peninsula.paloalto@gmail.com). Info on the Poor People's Campaign can be found at www.poorpeoplescampaign. Information at WILPF is available at wilpfus.org. If you can't join us, we have two more small demonstrations planned at the same place, same time on June 15th and 22nd. If you can't be with us at the corner, but if you walk by, we usually have handbills on various topics, and if you drive by, please read our signs, wave to us, give us a thumbs up, or honk your horn in support.

Awesome.

Fight the lies and racism. So not let the Roseanne's of the world pollute our society and culture with their Ambien racist tweets.
