There you have it, proof that the Ravenswood School Board does not care about the community they represent or the children entrusted into their care for an education. I think it is time to recall the School Board, investigate them and the administration and start from a clean slate. I just hope that the damage done can be repaired...

Unbelievable. It's akin to the Republicans in Congress blindly approving all of Trump's antics.
Time for the voters to vote in a new school board. Perhaps a few recall votes.

Our district is heading down hill and we have to stop it, before is all gone. Please join us if you would like to join our Community for a Better Education Committee. We need to sit down and figured out the next steps. This is not the end, only the beginning to improve our students quality of education.

I cannot find the right words to describe what happened on Thursday 26, 2018, even though there was a big crowd of parents, teachers and community members asking us the board not to renew Ms. Hernandez contract, and only a friend of Ms. Hernandez speaking in Ms. Hernandez favor, my colleagues went ahead and renew it. Teachers, Parents and students, I want to tell you that I admire you for standing up when injustice happens. Sorry that you were intimidated and mistreated. I am sure that you will bring positive changes to our district, even though it might not happen right away. Remember how long it took for MLK, and Cesar Chavez to improve things for us. Please know that I listen to you, will keep doing it because that was one of my promises to voters when I ran for Ravenswood School Board Member.
Thank you for coming to the board meetings and try to make your voices heard.

I can't believe that Trustee Knight was asleep for most of the meeting. She probably did not have a clue on what she was voting for.

I was a teacher at RCSD and as soon as I heard that a new middle school was coming to Ravenswood, I went back to college and got my single teaching credential, but because Gloria Hernandez did not like me, she denied me the opportunity to work there, and instead she hired more than three teachers who do not have multi subject or single credential, and she other teachers who are working at this middle school have only multiple subject credential, and they were moved there due to multiple complained of parents and teachers. This teacher who speaks broken Englis continue to mistreat and humiliate students and parents have complained to the principal and to Maurice G. but they do nothing about it and she still working there. She has been moved from school to school and they do not fire her. Parents have gone to the board and made complaints about the new middle school, but they say that they never heard back from Gloria or the board members.
Gloria claims that Gaviglio made a mistake and she demotes him.
I know about the no license teachers because I know the "teachers" and they told me that they have not been able to pass the required exams in order to be teaching, and they are the ones teaching our students at the new middle school right now.

What a shame that Pulido followed Wilson, and voted yes to renew the superintendents contract and she said “that in order to get another superintendent, it takes time...” She could have put an interim superintendent, while they find the permanent superintendent. Todd Gavilgio would be the perfect superindent of the district, and he would really improve things around just like he did @ Belle Haven.

We pay her salary.
We were not happy with her performance.
We asked the Board to replace her.
They ignored us.
We are pissed.

Don’t forget that 3 board members are up for re-election this November:, Ms. Knight-who will probably not run again because she will fall asleep.
Marcelino-who is afraid to talk and say no, that’s probably the reason he did not come to the board meeting but at least he did us a favor by staying home.
Ana Pulido-Sharifa’s puppet, who also owes Gloria too many favors, don’t forget that Gloria finicaly supported Marcelino and her, even through this is illegal. This has come up in prior meetings.

Ms. Night will not run, she seems to tired and sick to know what is going on at board meetings, but Gloria likes that because she never asks any questions or participates in the conversations. Also she does not live in East Palo Alto any more. She lives in Los Angeles. If Ana runs, she will not win, because not she has a lot of parents who do not longer believes in her. Marcelino is another follower who will not win, because he also allowed Gloria to do everything she wanted and now there is no way to stop her. Besides Gloria supported him financially (hopefully not with district money). This is why he also owes Gloria favors. He is also part of the corruptions. This has become a mafia. What is next?

I will keep my children at home tomorrow as a way to show them that I do not agree with the decision of renewing their contract and ignoring us. Furthermore I will home-schooling. I want nothing to do with this corrupted system. The board members shall be recall, once Gloria is gone, I will bring back my students, but at this time NO, besides Lorena Morales has been harrassing parents, and students, she has pulled parents by the arms and hands. Enough is enough, time to rise up, and make changes even though they might be uncomfortable for Gloria, Pulido and Sharifa. Let's not keep the status quo anymore. Lets take our district back, it belongs to us taxpayers and to us parents, not to gloria or those inept board members who voted yes.
Thanks Palo Alto on line for giving us a chance to vent, since our district does not want to hear us.

We parents who protested against the removal with the boycott, on home (boycott), and against the renewal of the supe contract, shall start filling out transfer forms to take our kids out of this corrupted district. When they asked us the reason we would say that the board members ignored us and never give us an opportunity to have a conversation about the removal, and even though there were a lot of parents and teachers asking them not to renew the contract they did it. We are the taxpayers, and they shall have listened to us. Because of the puppets board members now it is going to cost us money, but any money we spend on getting rid of Gloria and the board members is worth it. This is the only way our district will improve so our kids can have a better education. We shall set a day when we all go together to fill out those transfers. If RCSD does not like us, I am sure other schools will be happy to have us, many districts are low in enrollment and will receive us with open arms, we have no reason to put up with Gloria and the board members who renew her contract. Sharifa shall take some classes to learn how to deal with people. She does not know how to control her anger. We shall put the pictures we took of her when she was talking so disrespectful to the audience. Of course, she was going to vote yes, Gloria gave Glenda a job on request of Sharifa with a generous salary, and then when Glenda put a child in danger, Gloria did not suspend her as Ms. Woods ordered.
Let's have our phones ready to record Lorena or any district employee who does not agree when you are protesting outside the school, and let's call the police and Menlo Park Mayor before going to protest so they can protect us just like they did last time, and the police officer actually stopped Lorena from harrassing us. If she touches any of us let's bring changes right away. We do not have to put up with that. Lorena is a Curriculum and Instruction assistant superintendent, not a bouncer or security guard, she is stepping our of her credentials, we shall ask for a copy of her job description and see if harassing parents is one of her duties.

Wait a minute... Charlie Mae Knight is back, and she's a trustee?! DISGRACED FORMER SUPERINTENDENT CHARLIE MAE KNIGHT??!!
Does NO ONE REMEMBER what went down in 2001 and 2002?
Do a search using "Charlie Mae Knight" and "trial" and you will understand my outrage.
This is the woman who AVOIDED JAIL for FRAUD only because of a loophole in state ed code law. She took money from a fund---intended to pay for school uniforms for low-income students---and loaned it to several teachers so that they could pay rent to HER for apartments she owned.

Just a thought:
I know that various Menlo Park mayors have, in the past, expressed an interest in bringing East Menlo Park (part of the Ravenswood District) into the Menlo Park-Atherton school district. The East/West 101 divide just REEKS of "separate but equal" nonsense from the pre-desegregation era.
What would it take for Ravenswood parents to revolt and ask Menlo Park to take over? Ravenswood has been a mismanaged mess for DECADES, and it isn't fair for the families who are stuck there.
I know that Menlo Park-Atherton district families have, in the past, squashed the idea because of the income loss per pupil---because of the disparity in property tax $---BUT I have a hunch that a move this bold would be VERY interesting to foundations and granting organizations that are tired of throwing money at the Ravenswood problem, only to see the gross mismanagement continue. The Menlo Park School District seems to be a well-managed, well-organized district, and I think it highly likely that local foundations (like Silicon Valley Community Foundation, the Sobrato Foundation, et al.) would be willing to invest if it is incorporated into MPSD.

I already got the transfer form from Redwood City School District. I am filling it out, and I will no longer have to deal with these corruptions. Since, we will continue with the status quo, and they will destroy the next generation, and children will no be included in it. Too bad, that they will not be able to walk to school, but at the end they will be ready to succeed, and to continue on with their education.

Charlie Mae Knight owns many of the homes in EPA. She also owns that McDonald's in EPA. There are lots of people who answer to her in some capacity. The community is small with deep roots. As new families move in and run for office, we will see changes. Gloria was able to buy off people with food. That tells you the level of need and corruption. Things are coming to light. Honest, ethical people are speaking up and a critical mass in the community is growing as they continue to find their united and diverse voice to advocate for their community.

Ms. Night's vote shall not count. She does not live in East Palo Alto, she lives in Los Angeles, and her daughter flies her here when there are board meetings. Ms. Ms. Hernandez knows it, but she does not say anything because has her by the horns, if she does not vote yes, she will tell that she does not live here. It has been like that for a long time. This is why she is absent a lot. When Gloria needs her, she flies her down to E.P.A.
What can be done about it? As you can see everyone is corrupted at Ravenswood School District. Some reporters have tried to get information from Gloria, but she protects her because she knows that because she knows she does not live here and if she gets to vote on her behalf she will not say anything or else.

I am concerned that Dr. Knight is is making decisions for our children when she does not even live here. Her vote should be nullified. The district attorney can take her of that.

Dear Ravenswood Family: (1)
For months, our familial disagreements (2)have created an environment in which many within our family feel upset and hurt.
As the superintendent of the Ravenswood City School District, let me be the first to acknowledge that our community is in need of healing (3)in order to get us back to that place of unity where we can work together and focus on our students. (3)
Although I continue being firmly committed to implementing necessary reforms (4)
within our district, I am reflecting, looking inward to determine how to strengthen our relationship, and equally important, strengthen the various existing processes by which you share your thoughts and concerns with me.
As difficult as these months have been, we must remember that our students and their families are facing challenges on a daily basis that put their ability to make their dreams of a better future in peril. (5)
The only way by which we can make our students’ dreams a reality is by coming together under our shared vision of turning our district into an academic pipeline for long term student success. (6)
Thank you for everything you do on behalf of Ravenswood’s children and families. Working together, I am confident in the success we will experience at the New Ravenswood.
Respectfully,
Gloria

Superintendent
1. A dysfunctional family. She does not treat us like a family more like a
2.The disagreement was created by her, Gloria for not thinking on the students and removing the school principal for a mistake, when she has done mistake after mistake, and she is still the superintendent
3.The only way for the community to heal is by her leaving our district, and obviously, she will not do it because she has Sharifa protects her, and the other board members follow her.
4. The only two reform we need is to get rid of her and clean house in the district. After that, we will be better.
5. If she really cared about the students, she would leave and stop taking the students funds for something else that is not education (like the food bank, hiring more administrators for the district, laundry rooms, etc).
6. Students' dreams will become true when she leaves the district and no one spends their funds on something else than education.
More to come.

Ravenswood parents and staff, if there is corruption or conflicts of interest between the Superintendent and Board members, can this be reported to the California Department of Education? I did a search and found this website but someone closer to this might know more:

East Palo Alto and Menlo Park need to adopt an ordinance that all parents of students in the public school district, regardless of their eligibility to vote in state and federal elections, are eligible to vote in the district school board elections. That's a sure-fire way to change this. The school board is elected by a minority of citizens who do not reflect the views of the majority of parents in the district. It's akin to apartheid governance on the Ravenswood School Board.

More about Gloria's Letter:
As difficult as these months have been (You, Gloria made it difficult by not knowing how to solve problems before they get out of control) we must remember that our students and their families are facing challenges ( do not blame us, parents' situation. The more difficult challenge we are facing is you, Gloria, and four board members who voted yes to renew your contract, and did not listen to us, parents; they pretended to, but the fact that they did put the principal discussion on the agenda tells something else) on a daily basis that put their ability to make their dreams of a better future in peril. (Gloria, don’t you dear blames the families to excuse the bad job you are doing.
You are only good at asking for donations and spending the money, but not in education by exploiting the picture that you took to a family with children who were facing crisis and lived in a mobile home, and this is how you get rich people to feel pity and get donations,
and then you spend the money on things that make you look good, so people would say, look Gloria is helping the homeless and the hungry, and that is not in any superintendent’s job description) If you, Gloria and the board members who renew their contract cared about our schools, teachers, and kids they would not have renewed the contract. Now we know who the board members really are). And let me tell you, Gloria and board members, we are forming a committee to vote no on your parcel and bond tax. We will not vote yes, until Gloria is gone. We work very hard to earn our money, and we do not still it, so we are not going to allow you to spend anymore or out hard earned money.
Gloria:
You want people to come and do their laundry, you could take them to your home and let them do the laundry there, not in our schools. You are putting our children at risk because anybody can come, who have not been fingerprinted. How could you not figured that out before you spend money in building the laundry rooms and buying the laundry machines.
You want to help the homeless, you could park the mobile homes on your Wisteria home, street, driveway, backyard, garden or two car garage.

"Ruben Abrica, Mayor of the City of East Palo Alto, and on behalf of the City Council, hereby honor Dr. Charlie Mae Knight for her pioneering work and distinguished career in education and as a public servant dedicated to the betterment of the East Palo Alto community."
Is this a joke? What's the connection between EPA Mayor Abrica and Ravenswood Board Member Knight? Why would he initiate this hilarious proclamation about her dedication to the betterment of the EPA community? If her past record wasn't bad enough, her performance at the recent board meeting was certainly telling. She slept through the meeting and ignored her constituents.
PROCLAMATION
THE CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO
HONORS THE LEGACY OF
DR. CHARLIE MAE KNIGHT
WHEREAS, Dr. Charlie Mae Knight began her distinguished career in education as an
