Local students join nationwide school violence walkouts

In just one of many observances in local schools of the nationwide student protest against gun violence, many students from Woodside Elementary School walked out of their classrooms at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, in a student-led but school-sanctioned gathering in the school's outdoor amphitheater.

I think I speak for MANY when I thank our teenagers for speaking up and working to ensure the safety of students all over the country. It is wonderful to know how dedicated our young people are to this vital cause. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I saw students with signs walking down Middlefield in RWC this morning. I hinked my horn and waved in support. I am so proud of these young people standing up where adults refuse to go.
