The number of Menlo Park residents driving electric vehicles is substantial and on the rise. So what should the city do to make sure those cars have somewhere to charge up during the day?

Why are EV treated as special ? They are a mode of transportation selected by the owner. The owner should pay the full cost of operation and not be subsidized by taxpayers. The city should not pay for any electricity to power them and building owners should not be required to install charging stations. If the EV is about the lose range they should pay to have them recharged at a for profit charging station.

Very pleased to see the City to the right thing by ensuring the EV vehicles have a place to charge. Even as a non-EV owner, I support this 100%.

If there’s value in having EV charging, building owners will build them. There’s no reason to use the force of the government to have them built, which doesn’t just discourage building but distorts incentives for everyone.

With respect to "Brian" those Libertarian ideals are quite idealistic, but somehow don't seem to work out. Contractors build to the print, things that aren't speced are not built.
