Regarding "Change is Hard."
Indeed it is. I don't wish Filoli ill at all, it is a wonderful place. But among the huge changes that Ms. Newport failed mention was the decision to halt the docent led hikes offered to school age children throughout the area. This well regarded program was abandoned for the fall of 2017 and the spring of 2018 with little hope of it ever returning. Most of the well trained active volunteer docents who led the hikes have left Filoli and gone to other area programs that offer hikes to children.
Making changes to embrace the future is all well and good, but eliminating an outstanding program that has introduced hundreds of children to nature over many years seems contrary to the mission of Filoli.
