Well, an election would cost a lot less than a 100 million dollar bond measure. So there’s that. But I digress.

In the November election, it’s clear that Klugman, Mafia, and Bechtel will be elected. Considering the tremendous amount of concern already expressed by the community regarding this potential bond measure, it seems that it would be smart to have an election for the two remaining seats, in the Spring, rather than going to appointments. In this way, the school board can avoid accusations of stacking the deck, so to speak, by appointing people already in favor of the bond measure. Or, at least, in favor of development. After all, what is the hurry? Why the insistence on going to a bond measure when you have already shown irresponsibility in going far over budget on the unfinished playgrounds? As of now, the project is $168,000 over budget, and not finished. That’s more than the cost of the potential election.

Some of the candidates sound like they are eager to start spending and building. Maybe let the voters at large have a say. Based on the survey there’s a disconnect between the community and the insiders.
