Struggles over leadership at Woodside church

Original post made on Oct 17, 2017

There's turmoil at the Woodside Village Church. Interim Pastor Ama Zenya, presiding since March 2015, is both loved and under fire, and perspective is everything in trying to determine whether she'll be staying or going.

I can unequivocally state that Pastor Ama is the most thoughtful and generous of spirit person to enter our community in decades. She has brought a renewed energy to the church and to the entire community viewing the church as a community gathering space. She has lead this community in a VERY positive direction. Losing her would be a huge disservice to The Hub and the Church. Under her leadership, the church now offers a place to All community members, not just members of the congregation. She should be praised for her efforts NOT criticized. Sometimes people are reluctant to embrace change even when change is desperately needed. Thank God for Pastor Ama!

What Liz said. Woodside Village Church had become irrelevant to the vast majority of Woodside residents. (I have been a Woodside resident since 1991) Pastor Ama has turned that around, perhaps the hardest job in spiritual ministry. I am not particularly religious, but deeply respect and admire the work that Pastor Ama has done - so far. The church is thriving, it is growing, it brings in non secular activities. Wow.

It has been an honor and a privilege to get to know Ama. She is a remarkable, inspirational woman, whose joy, kindness, and gentleness is boundless and infectious. As part of the Hub launch committee I have worked with her on many projects. She is open, fair minded, thoughtful, and considerate of everyone. She has reinvigorated a sense of community and belonging that has been absent in Woodside. There are not enough words to describe how wonderful she is and how lucky we are to have her in our community. It is a travesty that a few vengeful, troubled souls have brought these ludicrous charges against her.
