Tonight: Health care district addresses legality of election system

The threat of a lawsuit over how candidates are elected to the board of the Sequoia Healthcare District may create a more ethnically diverse board to oversee funding of low-cost health care and school health programs in southern San Mateo County.

I wonder why the Sequoia Healthcare District doesn't seem to appear as an add-on the tax bill in the relatively new development of Vintage Oaks in Menlo Park. Also, we do not get to vote on candidates for the Board of Directors of the Sequoia Healthcare District. This is something that's puzzled me for some time.

To find the "hidden" recipients of the 1% General Property Tax, locked in by Prop. 13, look up your Tax Rate Area(TRA) in this file:

You will find your TRA at the top of your property tax bill.
