Hurricane Irma relief effort draws Bay Area search-and-rescue task force

Some 80 Bay Area specialists in "heavy rescue" were headed for Florida on Thursday as the Federal Emergency Management Agency gears up for the expected landfall of Hurricane Irma, a rare Category 5 storm with sustained winds of up to 175 mph.

Please remember the sacrifices that these professionals and their families are making the next time there is a story about all the "overtime" that they are making.

Our community has the best trained and most experienced disaster professionals in the Nation because they are always willing to go wherever they are needed, whenever they are needed.
