Hi neighbor,
A lot of people come over that bridge, including kids going to school, people going to and from work, etc.
My guess is that Mr San Jose used also highway 101N. As do many others.
Agree that this was horrific and way too close. But I'm not blaming the bike/ped bridge or an entire community for the evil perpetrated by an outlier who didn't even live there. (Not saying this is your intent but your words sort of implied this.) Thankfully we live in a safe community and such acts of violence are comparatively rare. And grateful for the police who managed to capture the assailant (with a little help from our bridge!)

You can thank Governor Moonbeam for convincing voters that releasing felons from prison would be a good thing. Notice this particular guy is on parole.

I appreciate the timely action and information from MPPD, but the fact that this case involved sexual assault actually raises more questions than answers have been provided for. Can Menlo Park police provide any information about the case that might help us better understand the scenario? Is sexual assault a new norm for Menlo Park? This makes me rethink my use and comfort with parks, biking to school, jogging, etc. The more information that you can provide would be beneficial for all.
