Facebook aims to expand affordable housing

Two nonprofits with track records of raising funds for affordable housing have joined Facebook's effort to finance affordable housing in Menlo Park and East Palo Alto.

What this story fails to mention is the intent behind Facebook's grants and affordable housing innovatives: the ability to build more office space.

Facebook is engaging in a pervasive PR campaign including cozying up to members of the Menlo Park council, farmers markets, grants, and so forth. We need critical reporters to dig deeper.

What does 1m new square feet of office really mean for the community? For traffic for rental prices.
