What makes Almanac headlines - and what doesn't

Original post made by Peter Carpenter, Atherton: Lindenwood, on Jun 29, 2017

This makes an Almanac headline:

Top 2016 pay in Menlo Park Fire Protection District: $387,799
Original post made on Apr 18, 2017
A recently released report from the Menlo Park Fire Protection district shows 12 people, including its chief, had total compensation of more than $300,000 in 2016.

These facts do not make Almanac headlines:

There are more than 500 “Firefighters" in California that made more ( starting at $440,170) than the top paid “Firefighter” in MPFPD at $188,796.36

There were more than 200 “Fire Chiefs” in California who made more (starting at $516,344) than our MPFPD Chief at $325,975.77

You won’t see these in the Almanac because it doesn’t make a splashy headline like the cherry picking in the article that did appear in the Almanac.
