I think 101 needs a highway over bridge on top of the highway. The "tunnel" would be for smaller cars, and the top, larger busses, and trucks.

When do I get my refund?? I pay the same taxes to drive on the roadways as anyone else. Refund my portion of the taxes for this area.

Carpool lanes are a boondoggle, they're mostly "parent with small child" or "I bought a Tesla" lanes. If you're going to build more lanes, they either need to be express lanes or open to everybody.

Jerry Brown just raised gas taxes and other "fees" to pay for basic road repair because us "freeloaders" are not paying enough. But now there is money to install new lexus lanes? which is it? Jerry just told us we don't even pay enough taxes for basic repairs...

Heck, why not just go all the way and make 101 exclusively for bicycles and pedestrians now?
You know it's inevitable.

No elite lanes, All lanes for all drivers except trucks.

We might need an upper level highway with scan toll fee like the one in golden gate instead of using a fastrak method like the one in 580 freeway, the existing 10 lanes below can be used and leave them as are now with 8 normal lanes (4 each way) and 2 carpool lanes (1 each way), and then propose the upper level with 4 lanes (2 each way), the toll can be of 2 different distance rates; 1 of $6 from Palo Alto (at the end of the 2-carpool lanes) taking exit at the 92 freeway junction: and the other rate of $10 using the complete toll distance highway bridge from Palo Alto all the way to the 380 interjection freeway, I think this is the best option but I know the agencies will find some controversies or high budget pretests for its construction.

Care for cheese to go with all this whine?
@egsn jamb - thanks for at least adding a suggestion.

I have a suggestion: Why only put congestion pricing on the express lanes? Put congestion pricing on the whole highway. Too expensive for you? Drive earlier or later. Price is the least awful way to allocate a scarce good.

Please pay for these new freeway lanes out of the gas tax, not from sales tax or property tax. Thank you.

Remember in the "olden days" when no one drove anywhere on Sunday ? Gas stations were closed, as were grocery store, malls, & even Restrauntes ? Everyone stayed home - no congestion on roads & freeways. There was a better quality of life & a bit of peace knowing that the world was not spinning around you. Ahhh - the good old days !!

I agree with MP resident -- CA loves its cars and so people drive everywhere. Mass transit and carpools are never going to capture the percentage politicians think they will.
Have you every noticed "one of those cars" with a sticker in the carpool lane driving below the speed limit?! That's helpful.
Either make express lanes like San Diego County has or make them open to all cars. Trucks should have to stay in the 2 right lanes.
And no more taxes -- what happened to the money we paid in the past -- oh, it was diverted to other state programs......
