Driver and motorcyclist identified in DUI-related collision on I-280

The woman arrested on charges of drunken driving after a Sunday morning (May 14) collision with a motorcyclist on northbound Interstate 280 near the Woodside interchange was Harjot Atwal, 27, of San Ramon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Harjot Atwal, who was driving the Nissan SUV in the May 14 collision on Interstate 280 near the Woodside interchange that caused major injuries to motorcyclist Drew Spier, bailed out of jail on the day of the accident, according to San Mateo County prosecutors.

Ms. Atwal had been arrested by California Highway Patrol on charges of drunken driving and is due in court for arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Monday, June 19, at the Hall of Justice at 400 County Center in Redwood City, prosecutors said.
