From the library foundation site:
"In 1992 the main library building was expanded and refurbished through a $5-million bond issue. The Belle Haven branch was opened in 1999 to serve as both a community and school library." Just a couple years ago, the children's area of the main library under went a major renovation. Isn't it a bit soon to renovate the main library yet again?

I appreciate this editorial and the issues it raises. I'll like to say that an even larger issue is why there is not representation from this community on the City Council itself? If there was even one voice truly representing the Belle Haven community, I don't think that we would have gotten this far before realizing this need. In what other areas might the City Council, admittedly trying hard to learn about all the needs of residents, be missing the boat?

When will the City Council consider what it was brought up in 2013, which is reorganizing to have representation from all communities in MP? This is what SUHSD has just done and it's time for MP to consider such a move.

Even thought Belle Haven is only about 10% of the voting population of Menlo Park, Belle Haven resident Billy Ray White was the top vote getter out of 8 candidates In 1982. Billy Ray served on the planning commission in the 70's, and served as mayor three times.

The high school district is very large. With Redwood City and most of East Palo Alto in the same district, it's likely Georgia Jack will be re-elected there. The redistricting line is at 101, cutting Ravenswood in two.

Turnout is what counts most in any local election.

Pick the person that you want to represent your neighborhood and then encourage everyone to vote and to vote for only that person and it is very likely that you will succeed.

With so many people voting by mail, having an excellent candidate statement is half the battle.

Peter Carpenter's candidate statement is a perfect example of an excellent candidate statement.
