Thank you Almanac and thank you Dave Boyce for summing up the damage caused by bad people at the expense of good people.

I hope that highly paid government employees and law enforcement start to realize that cameras, locks, and other fancy equipment are not the solution.

It is time for a culture change; a culture that is built on honesty, moral compass, responsibility, and accountability.

It is time law enforcement agents go through a reality check and start protecting American citizens instead of allowing abusive, illegal, l and criminal conduct to take place in our communities. It is time law enforcement do what they pledged to do and that is PREVENTING crimes and KEEP CONSTITUENTS safe....after all that is what they are paid for, so stop the nice presentations, stop promoting illegal conduct, and show us some results at no extra cost for the taxpayer.
thank you.

Frankly I am very happy reading reports like this because what I am not reading is about home invasions, rapes, shootings and other violent crimes. In the past those and more were in the police blotters. to me that counts more toward keeping people safe than preventing an unlocked bicycle from being stolen. Sure it would be great if we had no crime at all but since that is not likely to happen, and not sure we would support what it would take to make that a reality, keeping it to petty theft is fine for me.

I and many others in MP do not consider the loss of expensive bicycles, bike racks or tools (worth several $1000.-) "petty theft".
Not counting the damage to locks and other vandalism taking place in the process.

The Alamanac also seems to post only selective random 'incidents'. Not sure if they are all released by the police anyway.

Fact is we do have a problem in MP even North of ECR and it is not just 'crimes of opportunity' as it is made seem to appear.

I meant to say 'problem WEST of ECR'.

The majority of issues reported here were for less than a $500 loss which is petty theft. I am not saying we should accept it or be happy about it. What I was saying, in response to Caroline's post was that the Police are doing a good job in that there were no violent crimes reported. maybe it is selective, would be interested in seeing the full report but as crime in general and violent crime specifically seems to be down in MP I am happy.

I don't expect the police to be everywhere all the time, do you?

All I can say is that "someone" had been awfully busy cutting cables and stealing unlocked bikes. We need to be on the lookout for this "someone" and pronto!
