Woodside: Missing hiker found alive

A hiker who went missing Thursday afternoon in unincorporated Woodside was found alive Saturday morning (March 11), San Mateo County sheriff's officials announced.

News reports say she fell into a ravine half a mile from the highway. Spent 2 nights there with her dog and volunteer search teams found her in good shape on Saturday morning.

News reports also failed to mention that the San Mateo County Sheriffs Mounted Search and Rescue Unit was working the search both days with approximately 10 horses and riders.

Thank you to all the search and rescue people and animals for the great effort and wonderful ending. It is comforting to know that if something happens to us when we go out in our hills we can at least know that people will continue looking for us and asking questions! Thanks again.
