Editorial: Yes on Measure X to keep schools thriving

Original post made on Feb 7, 2017

The Menlo Park City School District community is appealing to voters once again to support a parcel tax, 10 months after two tax measures went down in defeat. Since that ballot-box failure, school district officials have shown they are willing to respond to the concerns that appeared to have led to the defeat. And now voters have a measure before them that has an expiration date and a lower price tag, and is the result of a resolutely transparent process.

Measure X is a win for our children, a win for our community schools, and a win for our whole community! As Barbara Wood points out in her article covering Measure X (see link below), while Measures A and C last spring failed to get the necessary support, aside from these, "since 1990 every measure the district had put on the ballot — three bond measures and six parcel taxes — had succeeded." I have no doubt our community will once again rally behind our eXcellent schools and support the needed parcel tax. YES ON X!

Thank you for your support Almanac! Here's to keeping critical subjects in art, science and library for our children, and the amazing teachers we are lucky to get. Vote Yes on March 7 or send in your ballots this week please!

And, if you vote NO and Measure X fails, that's a DOLLAR a day in your pocket.

Still, you'll have 2 DOLLARS coming out of your other pocket for MPCSD.
