Wow- 250K towards renovation and home repairs for those of low income? Great job Facebook. Perhaps your marketing arm should take a job training course in the costs of construction in the South Bay; Then you may increase your contribution.

Be sure to read Dave Price's editorial in today's Daily Post (Monday December 5th) to gain insights into Facebook's motives. Dave speculates that Facebook's tiny pledge ($20M is 0.006% of Facebook's market value) is a PR stunt designed to help make Facebook look good if and when they are sued.

$250,000 goes along way with RTP... as it uses volunteers and acquires building materials for less than a contractor pays so comparing its work to that of for-profits is totally misleading. Also. it only provides minor repairs and home improvements.
Since 1989, Rebuilding Together Peninsula (RTP) has provided renovation and repair services for the Peninsula’s most vulnerable homeowners—seniors, veterans, persons with disabilities, and families with children and community facilities. As the only local organization addressing this particular need, we have built the expertise and infrastructure to tackle critical home repairs, securing safe and healthy housing for those most in need.
Today, Rebuilding Together Peninsula serves approximately 250 homeowners each year with the help of over 3,000 volunteers.

Menlo Park has to come to grips with the fact that it must zone for housing on additional land IF IF IF it wants to help solve the housing crisis rather than worsen it.
This funding is an appreciated drop in the bucket of what is needed.

Hmmm...still waiting for the Facebook/developer/city fund to address profoundly worsened gridlock for those of us living on or near Willow road and Bay rd. No real traffic mitigation plans? Now, there's a compelling focus for a law suit.

Thank you FB for making such a large donation, I don't know of any other company that has made any contributions near that.
Also glad you are involved in some of the oversight of money distributed. I can see this money disappearing into a non-profit black hole. I hope there is transparency of where every dollar goes. Also wondering why EPA is getting the lions share of this. Belle Haven is also suffering from the same problems.
When I hear the term
"a yet to be determined, mission driven 3rd party," that scares me.
Dana thank for your detailed explanation of how RTP operates, based on your description I wish a much larger portion of the 20m had gone to them. Sounds like a true non-profit. Keep up the good work and please let everyone know how to contact them if they know of someone needing your services,
3,000 volunteers, Great job,
