Man charged in Menlo Park burglary gets 11-year sentence

A 21-year-old Redwood City resident who pleaded no contest to charges of burglary in Menlo Park, evading an officer in East Palo Alto and gang-related assault at the San Mateo County jail was sentenced to 11 years in state prison on Nov. 3.

Why is this guy getting genetic marker testing?

he's getting DNA testing to see if they can pin any other crimes on him. Also, when he is released, having his DNA on file will make it easier to nail him in the future.

Strange that the title of this article says "burglary", but the article describes a long series of more serious violent crimes.
