MPCSD Opinion Survey

Original post made by Menlo Voter., Menlo Park: other, on Nov 3, 2016

Just arrived in an unmarked envelope. No return address. Nothing indicating its purpose. Would have assumed it was junk mail except I knew something was coming.

Just another example of the board operating in stealth mode. You can bet anyone with kids in the district knew to look for this envelope's arrival in the mail. The board hoping most folks would assume it was just another piece of junk mail that they would throw away. Leaving the parents to send in the lion's share of surveys thus supporting the boards already decided plan to put out another parcel tax. Yet, this time they can claim they "reached out" to the voters and "the voters" resoundingly support said parcel tax. Never mind the fact that, most likely, the vast majority of voters in the district thought the plain, unmarked envelope that contained the survey was junk mail, so they threw it away.

This is just another example that the board doesn't get what the voters shouted in the board's face; WE WILL NOT SUPPORT ANOTHER PARCEL TAX UNTIL THE BOARD STOPS ACTING IN AN OPAQUE MANNER AND STOPS PLAYING THESE BS GAMES. We aren't stupid. We understand what you are trying to do with this "survey."

To the board: when you actually put forward an actual plan to deal with the problem that you and your "insider" predecessors have created, which should include CUTS to programs, you will not receive the support of the majority of taxpayers that are footing the bill for the school district. You approved a raise and bonus for teachers and staff KNOWING you didn't have the money, yet you expect us to pick up the tab. GROW UP! Learn to live within your means.

For anyone who didn't read the follow up, this was an error by the printer employed by the consultant company, not a district conspiracy.

"Each registered voter is assigned a unique survey code, which prevents multiple responses by a single voter."

Every one of letters in the second mailing had the exact same survey code so there is no way to identify multiple responses by a single voter.

" this was an error by the printer employed by the consultant company, not a district conspiracy. "

You can delegate authority but you cannot delegate responsibility.

who hired the consultant company? I can tell you as a contractor, when I bring a subcontractor into a job and they fail, my clients don't care that it's not my failure. They're opinion is that I hired them, so I'm responsible for their failure. How is this any different?
