Of all of the political ads that I've received in the mail this month, I've found that PROPOSITION K's are the MOST DISHONEST.
Particularly IRKING is Prop K's claim that it WON'T RAISE TAXES. The is untrue. If passed, Prop K will raise the San Mateo sales tax rate by 0.5% for the years 2023-2043. That's a big chunk of money.
Be Smart.
Be Wise.
Vote NO on Prop K.

Measure K is a 20 extension of a Dishonest Measure A of 2012. The San Mateo County Grand Jury said the the County Leaders misled the VOTERS to get it passed. They LIED to the VOTERS be claiming they had a deficit and children services would be cut. It turns out they had a SURPLUS for the previous 10 years.
Seton Medical funded and staffed the YES on Measure A campaign to the tune of $1.3M and have received $25.9M in return for their investment through June 2015. Seton Medicial has donated $400,000 to the Yes on Measure K campaign.
Don't reward Dishonest Elected Officials.
VOTE NO on Measure K.

Let's assume for a minute that the current .05 tax was a good idea (it's not, but humor me here). There is still 7 years left on that program. Why extend it now? Never mind, I'll answer that for you. The big $$$ supporters are afraid that, if we wait until it gets close to the end of that 10 year period before they vote on an extension, everybody will see what a failure and fraud this whole was in the first place, and will vote it down (as we should!). By voting on it now, they can try to sell a bill of goods to the mostly naive voting public, who just reads the carefully crafted headlines of these useless propositions. Vote NO on K!

One half of one cent! Wow. To those claims that it is a new tax---we have the tax now, it is just being extended so those who need stability in funding can make fiscal plans. Do those opposed think infrastructure fixes itself? Come on people, taxes are the price we pay for a civilized society.

Sales taxes are extremely regressive. The poor pay a higher percentage of their income on sales tax than the rich do.
I find it ironic that a billionaire who doesn't live in the county is pushing to raise taxes that strain the poor.

Bob:
yes, we already have the tax. The problem is it's unnecessary and it was unnecessary when the county supes lied to us and told us it was. A tax we don't need doesn't need to be extended.
