“Jerry Brown’s Train Wreck”

Original post made by morris brown, Menlo Park: Park Forest, on Oct 4, 2016

An especially illuminating article “Jerry Brown’s Train Wreck” --“The California Governor doesn’t want anyone looking under the high-speed rail track”, has just appeared in the Wall Street Journal.

The bill in question, AB-2847, passed through the California State Senate and Assembly on unanimous votes. The bill essentially would have implemented recommendations from the State, non-partisan Legislative Analyst Office, regarding the need for more oversight on the High Speed Rail project.

Yet, Governor Brown fails to see the need for more oversight of the High Speed Rail Authority, and he vetoed the bill. If ever a veto needed to be over ridden, this one stands out.

There will be no attempt to over ride this veto. There have been no vetoes over ridden in California since 1980. To even mount such an effort, the State Legislature would have to be called back into session before Nov 30th, and there is simply no appetite for this to occur.
