In 148 years, the San Diego Union-Tribune has never endorsed a Democrat for president. They're for Clinton.

"Endorsement Why Hillary Clinton is the safe choice for president"

Vengeful, dishonest and impulsive, Trump is no Romney. This is why Hillary Clinton is the safest candidate for voters to choose in a complex world.

Terrible leaders can knock nations off course. Venezuela is falling apart because of the obstinance and delusions of Hugo Chávez and his successor. Argentina is finally coming out of the chaos created by Cristina Kirchner and several of her predecessors.

Trump could be our Chávez, our Kirchner. We cannot take that risk.

This paper has not endorsed a Democrat for president in its 148-year history. But we endorse Clinton. She’s the safe choice for the U.S. and for the world, for Democrats and Republicans alike."

One after another, arch-conservatives unite in agreement: Trump is dangerous for America.

Us sane Republicans are overwhelmed at how bad Trump is. At least horrible Hillary won't destroy our democracy. Johnson is an airhead.

I agree with the points in the SD union.

CLINTON FOR 4. Then remove her.

Helen Copley retired from the San Diego U-T in 2001 when she transferred leadership of the company to David C. Copley, her son from her previous marriage whom her husband had adopted. She died in 2004 and the Copley family sold the newspaper to Platinum Equity of Beverly Hills in 2009. He died 3 years later in 2012. The LA Times bought the San Diego Union Tribune in May 2015. So it is the Los Angeles Times Editorial Board that made the endorsement. If Helen Copley were alive she would have not under any circumstances endorsed Hillary Clinton. This is not to say she would have endorsed Trump.

Also, the San Diego Union Tribune did not come into existence until September of 1991 when the San Diego Union merged with the San Diego Tribune. So I am curious how a newspaper that has only been in existence for only 25 years had a 148 year history of endorsing Republican candidates?

It is because, as usual, the idiots at the Huffington Post are incapable of reporting the facts and some naive person actually believed the shoody reporting of the Huffington Post.

Sure - let's dissect the 150 year history of the San Diego Evening Tribune Union Bee Herald, etc..

"The predecessor newspapers of the Union-Tribune were:

San Diego Herald, founded 1851 and closed April 7, 1860; John Judson Ames was its first editor and proprietor
San Diego Sun, founded 1861 and merged with the Evening Tribune in 1939
San Diego Union, founded October 10, 1868
San Diego Evening Tribune, founded December 2, 1895
In addition, the San Diego Union purchased the San Diego Daily Bee in 1888, and a for a brief time the combined newspaper was named the San Diego Union and Daily Bee."

Or we can recognize the clear and present danger that is Donald J. Trump.

"Vengeful, dishonest and impulsive, Trump is no Romney - Trump could be our Chávez, our Kirchner. We cannot take that risk."

Eton tries to deflect. It is a proven fact that the San Diego Union Tribune did not exist before 1991. Eton reads the far left Huffington Post and took its word at face value without bothering to corroborate the facts. But that is what the Kool Aid Drinking left does. To them it does not matter whether it is true or not. All that matters is that it supports their far left point of view even if it is factually wrong. The Huffington Post lied (so what else is new) and Eton bought it hook line and sinker. I have some swampland in the Everglades I like to sell him.
