Atherton: The sting on El Camino Real

Atherton police had a plain clothes officer repeatedly cross El Camino Real at Almendral Avenue for two hours on Friday morning, Aug. 26, in an attempt to make drivers aware of a new pedestrian-activated stoplight.

Nice to see a new crosswalk that ends on a dirt shoulder going nowhere put to use. ECR needs a full plan from Caltrans, not this kind of stop-gap nonsense.

Pretty much a disaster across the board. The crosswalks on ECR are a death trap. People get hurt and caltrans is on the hook for millions. Then these weird flashy things pop up that they expect people to understand even though they only installed one instead of one at every crosswalk across ECR in Atherton.

I'm just thankful there's that crossing guard during the mornings...
